ONE ASH CROWN BAILIFF CGC WDX JH Kara Hamilton
When I brought Bailey home at 12 weeks old, the hunt was on to find a trainer to help me train Bailey to hunt. I knew that the breed was bred to hunt so I wanted to try it! I found a trainer that trained pointing breed dogs. He said he could help me with Bailey, but, Bailey was a flushing spaniel and he wasnt too sure how to completely train him. But he was going to be on birds and learn basic skills in the field. All we needed to start in the game.

THE FIVE CS THAT MAKE EACH AND EVERY DOG Barbara Irving BVSc
BARBARA IRVING BVSC THE PELVIC GIRDLE and HIP JOINT
he ilium (hip bone) articulates with the sacrum, the pubis lies beneath and is attached to its counterpart on the other side. This is not a joint, but a fusion; in bitches the fusion lessens at parturition, to allow more elasticity of the pelvic girdle. The acetabular bone is a small triangular bone which lies between the ilium and ischium and becomes incorporated with these larger bones. The ischium consists of a body and an arch, this arch fuses with its counterpart. The four bones are involved in the formation of the cup (socket) acetabulum of the hip joint. This is probably why this joint so often has problems if growth of the four pelvic bones becomes even slightly maladjusted. The pelvic girdle is very important because from it comes the whole of the hindquarters which are responsible for much of the locomotive power of the animal. Its other great importance is that it is through the actual girdle that the intestinal tract and the genito-urinary tract has access to the outside.

ELECTRIFYING IMAGES Kris Ellman
My favourite breed to portray is definitely Clumber Spaniels. It is the most difficult and challenging breed that I have ever painted, but will always be my favourite. Painting Clumbers in pastel is a challenge because they are mostly all white, have a heavy bone structure and many different freckles and markings that need to be painted & portrayed correctly. It is always a challenge to paint enough shadow and highlight in the white fur, without having the shadows and highlights look too light or too dark. It is also very time consuming to make sure the fur flows correctly over the heavy bone structure, while at the same time making sure there is plenty of detail in the fur. I also enjoy making sure that the wonderful Clumber expression and personality is portrayed in each painting.
