THE GREAT HOUSES OF THE DUKERIES HOME OF THE CLUMBER SPANIEL the Late Rae Furness
The Clumber Spaniels original home was the Dukeries area of Nottinghamshire. This is a lovely stretch of country taking in the great houses of the area, Worksop Manor, Welbeck Abbey, Clumber Park, Thoresby Hall and Osberton Manor. Just flanking these we have Sandbeck House and Serlby Hall all housing Clumber spaniels in their day and most of them in Sherwood Forest the famous Robin Hood Country.
CLUMBER SPANIEL CLUB OF HOLLAND SHOW
Overall the standard of Clumbers in Holland is good. I was most impressed by some of the baby puppies in particular the winners of both dog and bitch classes and I note they are from the same litter. The bitch In Fundo Maris Bobos Bella Bettie was such a confident young lady far in excess of her age and should have a really promising future. As she was under six months she could not compete for best puppy but will no doubt go on to win in future
VERSATILITY WITH BEAUTY = MAGGIE! Janice Scott
This special bitch, named Maggie, came into my life as a nine week old puppy. She was bred by Robert and Jane Bonnaccorso, long time breeders of Clumber Spaniels. She was the product of frozen semen from a dog, CH Companionways Clipper, who had died many years ago
WESTMINSTER 2007 Anita Roberts
The Westminster Show is held over two days, the Clumbers, this year, being on the second day. As I said earlier, this show is the equivalent to our Crufts, so the size of it came as quite a shock. Both the number of spectators and dogs are limited, tickets being sold out long before the show. The number of dogs is limited to approximately 2,500 (a bit different from our 26,000). The show covers 7 small rings (Crufts has 31 large rings). Only Champion dogs may enter. The top dogs from each breed are invited to be shown; the rest are allocated on a first come basis until the permitted number of dogs has been fulfilled. This was achieved in just 10 minutes after opening for the 2007 entries. I’m told that despite this rather haphazard way of entering, a fairly good representation of all the breeds is achieved

FIRST CLUMBER MX & MXJ FROM START TO FINISH as told to Judy Hiller, her breeder & best buddy
In 2006 my goal was to earn at least one MACH point (seconds under course time are called MACH points). She earned three MXJ legs during the qualifying period for the First AKC Agility Invitational, but it wasnt until her third leg that she managed to be MORE than a second under course time. Goal achieved: she would be invited to this event with ONE MACH point to her name

THE SPANIEL Jan E Irving
The actions of a spaniel are evident mainly in the field and on scent, although as a family the spaniels are also noted for their soft nature, keenness to be with owner or family, and gentleness with young children, willingness to be petted
