DOGS VICTORIA BIG DAY OUT 2011 A small band of Victorian volunteers represented the breed at the VCA premier public event. We had a steady stream of viewers throughout the day and raised a small amount for the CS Health Foundation from the lucky dip.

SHOWS 2011 - THREE OF THEM! The CSLV held their three shows over the weekend of March 26 & 27 with excellent entries of 23 24 and 23, and Eltham ABKC also attracted an entry of 20 Clumbers. It was superb to have the support of exhibitors from South Australia, Tasmania, New South Wales to back up the local teams who fronted to present the breed en masse to the dog world - and you were noticed! All the judges praised the depth of quality. The results are appearing online at http://www.erinrac.com/results/list.php (my sincere thanks to the little wiz who got these up!). | ||||
SHOWS 2010 Well, another exciting year of shows under our belts. Disappointing not to have more kennels represented in the main section, but there was a strong contingent of new breeders in the Baby Puppies - we look forward to renewing acquaintances in 2011!

As I'm sure you have heard, I'm working for the Van Andel Research Institute now. We are intensely focused on hemangiosarcoma research, along with four other cancers (lymphoma, osteosarcoma, melanoma and malignant histioctyosis).
I am really trying to boost sample recruitment. We need blood samples and/or dna from Clumbers who have or have had hemangiosarcoma. Any help you can give us in this respect will be greatly appreciated.

CLUB SHOWS & EVENTS IN 2009 The Club Championship Show will be conducted on note change of date & venue Friday 30th October 2009 KCC Park - picnic event! (Saturday 31st October 2009:Victorian Gundog Club & Rarer Gundog Spaniel Club Champ shows (part of the Cup Day Weekend) - we have made arrangements to have an all breeds UK judge with extensive experience and a high regard for the breed to judge.
There will be no Open Show this year, instead we are conducting two Members Comps (you do need to be a financial CSLV member to compete) during the lunch break at Caulfield & District Kennel Club's Championship Show on Saturday 23rd May - at KCC Park.

NEW BREED STANDARD The English Kennel Club have released the revised breed standard for the Clumber, under current ANKC policies this standard will be adopted in Australia.
The major alterations/changes are in essence in the choice of words rather than a wholesale change in type or form. Checked out changes in General Appearance (reference to condition and purpose), Head and Skull (removal of the word massive), Eyes (free from all obvious eye problems), Forequarters (now moderation in bone size), Body (now moderately long AND well muscled rather than looking for extreme depth), and Weight (a reduction in the ideal weight for the male by 5% and a range is given rather than one figure). 2009-01-13 more ... | ||||

CODE OF PRACTICE FOR THE PRIVATE KEEPING OF DOGS (Victoria) Please be advised that the Code of Practice for the Private Keeping of
Dogs, made under the provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act
1986, was gazetted in the Victorian Government Gazette on 15 November 2007.
A copy of the gazette notice is attached.
The Code provides the minimum standards of accommodation, management and
care appropriate to the physical and behavioural requirements of dogs kept
under private ownership.

The Bureau of Animal Welfare will be printing the code in booklet format
for distribution, and there will be publicity about the code to advise the
community of its existence.
