My flock was established in 1999 with the purchase of chicks from Weber at Maryknoll (Victoria) and Tenge at Monbulk (Victoria). I do not advise anyone to buy poultry from Weber, the three chicks I bought were all culled, the males for being mismarked and carrying crooked keels and the female for croooked toes. The birds from Tenge were far superior although mismarking was still evident. The chicks from Tenge were sired by a cock he bought at the dispersal auction of Goodwin.

In 2000 I bought two hens from Stocks of Inverleigh (Victoria), the older hen was reputed to have been bred by Johnson, a very well respected Dorking breeder, the younger was a daughter of this bird, although bred by Stocks.
