To all Ollie’s sisters and brother also Happy Birthday.
Ollie has won in his show career the titles:

He has been to Crufts in 2008. He could have been there this year also.

Ill show Ollie occasionally and maybe next year at the Crufts (as hes qualified for 2010 as well). It was great to show with Ollie. Thank you James for giving me the opportunity to have Ollie, Ollie is a great Clumber. Ollie will spend more time walking in the forest, playing and fooling around.

You are Very welcome!

A short summary of 2008 in Sweden
In 2008 we celebrated our 30th anniversary.
Since the start, 1978, we have been a very active club, every year we have arranged our own Club show, field trial, tracking and obedience competitions. There have been conferences for our breeders, we have produced several pedigree books (the next one is a bit late but is ready for publication now)and other publications such as breed standard compendiums, articles, booklets and we shall not forgot our magazine Klumpisen. There are a lot more and we shouldnt have been able to do this without all the enthusiastic Clumber fanciers that have organized these and also participated ! We hope we can go on for many more years!

Health
With RAS, breed specific breeding strategies, to follow and as a guide, our long term work for our dogs’ health has been put together and printed in a compendium.
We can already see the improvements in both hips and elbows, at the start there were more dogs that were affected, now most of the dogs are clear.
There were 34 eye examinations for cataracts and other faults inside the eyes, 29 were clear, one had cataract and 3 were affected with non-inheritable cataract.
The inbreeding percentage is lower, 1.3 % average 2008.
We have also started to make a register about information at death, our dogs age when they die and why.
The Swedish kennel clubs website is very useful for all of you that search for health results, show results, registrations etc. They have recently improved it and there is a lot in English.
Exaggerations are to be penalized
There were special instructions put together by our kennel club for show judges, SDR, special guidelines for judging concerning health and soundness. There are altogether 47 breeds mentioned in these guidelines and the Clumber is one of them. You can find this information on the Swedish kennel clubs website; www.skk.se They want the judges to pay extra attention to exterior exaggerations that can affect the dog’s health and soundness. For Clumbers it is movement, angulation, eyes, and too much loose skin. The guidelines have been used since March this year and we are looking forward to the first evaluation of SDR this Autumn.
At work
There are not so many of us that participate in the field trials but the few that are doing it are doing it with their heads held high. We continue to get new tracking champions which is a work that suites the Clumber very much and is easy to train.

Next international seminar
The next seminar will be arranged by Sweden. At the seminar in USA 2008 there were some suggestions that the seminar should be arranged in Copenhagen in conjunction with the World dog show 2010.
We just would like to inform you all that the World Dog show will be in Herning, also Denmark, 3-4 hours drive from Copenhagen at Jylland which will make it very difficult to arrange a seminar in conjunction.
We will instead arrange the seminar for 2011 in Sweden so it will be three years in between the seminars, we will get back with more information as soon there are more plans made.
